Little Sun People Invitation | Honoring Legacy, Celebrating the Present, Funding the Future

In January, at Little Sun People, we explored clothing and the vital roles of community helpers. Our parent body delivered incredible presentations, showcasing their contributions to our school, city, and beyond. The children experienced a wide range of careers through engaging talks, hands-on activities, and meaningful interactions. This is yet another example of why Little Sun People is such a special and necessary institution for the enrichment of our young learners.

Adding to the excitement, our children were beautifully outfitted in handmade aprons, lovingly sewn by our talented teachers, Mama Ayoka and Mama Helen. What a creative and inspiring environment to be part of! In February, we will, of course, shine a light on Black History as we prepare for our second performance, celebrating the beauty and greatness of people of African descent. Our performance will take place on March 7, 2025, because one month is simply not enough to honor our history.

We will also welcome the grandparents of our children on March 20, 2025, as we continue to celebrate the foundations of culture, family, and growth—the cornerstones of Little Sun People.

Continue to grow with us!

With Pride and Solidarity,
Mama Aaliyah
Executive Director

Dear Friends of Little Sun People,

We joyously invite you to join us on Saturday, March 29 for Mama Fela’s Farewell Fete.

Mama Fela, Founder of Little Sun People, wrapped up her over 40-year tenure as LSP’s Executive Director at the end of the 2023-2024 school year! During the current school year, Mama Fela has been supporting the transition of LSP’s new Executive Director – Mama Aaliyah – LSP’s first student.

As we approach the end of the school year, we are excited to honor Mama Fela’s Legacy at a Farewell Fete at the historic Weeksville Heritage Center.
