A Bright Start at Little Sun People

New Beginnings: Little Sun People Welcomes Our First Kindergarten Class!

Little Sun People is proud to announce the opening of our very first kindergarten classroom!

At LSP we have a legacy of offering an African-centered curriculum that celebrates the brilliance of our children’s history while equipping them with the tools to thrive in today’s world. We instill positive self-identity, helping children believe in themselves and their community, while also preparing them to navigate systemic challenges with confidence.

In addition to our focus on cultural pride and empowerment, we adhere to the New York State Education Department guidelines, ensuring that each child gets what they need for lifelong academic success.

Why Little Sun People?

  • Personalized Learning: Small class sizes allow us to tailor each child's learning plan through collaboration between parents, teachers, and students.

  • A Safe, Warm Environment: Located on the fourth floor of our newly renovated building at 352 Classon Avenue in Brooklyn, our classrooms offer a clean and nurturing space where children can flourish.

  • A Dedicated Educator: Our credentialed kindergarten teacher, Mama Shawna Dunkley, a graduate of Brooklyn College's teacher training program, brings experience, love, and care to every lesson.

  • A Commitment to Growth: This milestone kindergarten class will grow with us, becoming our very first 1st-grade class next year.

A Place Where Children Thrive

Little Sun People isn’t just a school—it’s a family. Here, we provide the warmth, love, and understanding that only our community can offer. We’re not just preparing children academically; we’re nurturing their hearts and spirits in a way that builds leaders who know their worth and their potential.
