LSP Experience
Little Sun People, Inc is a unique community child care center founded in 1980 by Fela Barclift ("Mama Fela"), mother of four and lifetime resident of the Bedford-Stuyvesant community. Many of her own experiences coupled with the sobering lessons learned from the Kenneth and Mamie Clark Doll experiments of the 1940s and later revisited in 2009 inspired Mama Fela to desire something more for her children and community.
Nourishment
Nourishing the minds and bodies of children is a fundamental cornerstone of healthy development, and Little Sun People stands as a shining example of how dedicated care can shape young lives. Understanding that proper nourishment is the bedrock upon which growth is built, the school has woven a comprehensive approach to ensure that every child thrives.
Recognizing that a healthful diet is a vital catalyst for both mental acuity and physical vitality, Little Sun People takes a proactive stance in this regard. Through their active participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), the school cements its commitment to providing not just meals, but nourishing experiences that set the stage for a lifetime of well-being. By partnering with this program, the school ensures that each meal is meticulously crafted to meet nutritional standards that support children's optimal growth and development.
