Kwanzaa, a celebration deeply rooted in African heritage, holds profound significance for us at Little Sun People. This seven-day holiday, observed from December 26th to January 1st, embodies the principles and values that strengthen our community.
Each day a candle is lit on the Kinara to symbolize one of these principles. Through storytelling, music, dance, and the sharing of delicious food, Kwanzaa fosters unity, encourages us to honor our roots, and inspires us to work together for a better future. Happy Kwanzaa!
Kwanzaa, a Swahili word that means "first fruits," encourages us to reflect on seven principles:
Unity (Umoja)
Self-Determination (Kujichagulia)
Collective Work and Responsibility (Ujima)
Cooperative Economics (Ujamaa)
Purpose (Nia)
Creativity (Kuumba)
Faith (Imani)
